Patient Policies

The medical team at Palm Springs Family Care, led by Dr. James Badman,  believes that having a plan for health that changes as their patients do is, well, the best plan for staying well and staying well informed—from age 5 to 85. For this very reason, the team has provided the practice patient policies to help you make the best time of your appointment at our Altamonte Springs primary health care facility.


Patients, five and over, can have appointments scheduled with Dr. Badman, Mercedes Wierman, ARNP or Alicia Wolff, ARNP at Palm Springs Family Care, a comprehensive primary health care practice located in Altamonte Springs, Florida. If you’re interested in starting a lasting relationship with a medical team located in the Seminole County area, just north of Downtown Orlando, you should contact us.

Appointments can be made by calling our practice directly at 407.331.1121, press 1. Alternatively, you can fill out the Request for an Appointment form on this website. Please bring your current insurance card, referral form if required, a list of any prescriptions currently taking or refills needed and a list of any questions you may have. Billing and Financial Policy

If you have insurance, a member of the Palm Springs Family Care team will file the claim and bill your provider. However, patients are responsible for any required co-payments or outstanding balances. Payments are expected at the time of visit. Palm Springs Family Care accepts cash and credit cards (VISA and MASTERCARD).

Cancellation Policy

Please call Palm Springs Family Care at least 24 hours in advance to cancel appointments, failure to do so could result in a fee of $25.00. Neglecting to do so could inconvenience the medical team and our other patients, therefore delaying our ability to deliver our special quality of primary health care.

Emergencies and On Call

If you have an emergency that requires immediate medical assistance, please call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency department.

Lab and Test Results

As a general rule, the medical team will discuss patient lab and test results at a follow-up Palm Springs Family Care appointment. Upon completion of the specific test, further instructions will be given as to how and when the results will be made available. For example, the results of a Pap Test might be sent via a postcard, or annual lab work and routine screenings might be sent back to the practice. It’s best to ask if you are confused about how to obtain your test results.

Late Policy

If you are going to be more than 10 minutes late for your Palm Springs Family Care appointment, we request that you call our office. If the schedule allows, the appointment time will simply be shifted to accommodate the delay. However, if the tardiness can’t be handled, we may request you reschedule your appointment. We work diligently to stay on schedule and suggest that you arrive 20 to 30 minutes prior to your appointment time to allow time for any necessary paperwork.

Prescription Refills

There are two main ways to handle prescription refills. Patients of Palm Springs Family Care can call their pharmacy and have them fax the request to 407.331.1156. Or call the office at 407.331.1121, press 2. Please allow 48 hours for your prescription refill request to be processed. Please note, after six months patients are required to make an appointment for maintence perscriptions. For controlled perscriptions, patients are required to make appointment after three months.

Records Release

Please complete the records release form (Communication Authorization Form) to obtain your medical records from your previous primary health care physician, gynecologist and any specialists you may be consulting. The Palm Springs Family Care Practice Privacy Policy is available at the office for your review.


Call Palm Springs Family Care at 407.331.1121, press 3 for referrals. Please allow 2 business days to arrange for a referral to a specialist. Some insurance plans require an authorization before patients can schedule an appointment with a specialist. The medical team at Palm Springs Family Care recommends that you check with your health insurance provider to inquire on the specific referral policy, as failing to do so could result in paying out-of-pocket expenses.
